Just spend time with her

I can not even tell you how many times a week that phrase comes out of my mouth.  Brittnie, God bless her, she loves her horse and wants to ride every free minute she gets.  It has been quite a site to watch however this last month or so since school has started that she nearly has to chase the horse to be able to get a lead on her.
At dinner this night (one night a week or so ago) Britt says "I want to go out and ride but my dumb horse won't ever come to me anymore"  Now I know that horse isn't dumb and so does she but she had been so frustrated that she has been having to work so hard to catch her.  Anyway, I am not really sure why Ladybug has been so standoffish with her but a couple of things came to mind that night.  I threw out my thoughts to Britt...
1) maybe ladybug doesn't recognize you anymore.  I mean after all you only started having problems catching her after you colored your hair at the beginning of school.  For 7 years now she has been seeing a sweet little blond girl come out to hang with her now this loud dark hair chick keeps yelling at her to "come here!" (Britt colored her hair dark brown before school started--big change for her horse I think)
2)  All you ever do is go out catch her tack her out and ride. Then after you're tired of riding you un-tack brush for a minute and put her back out in the pasture with little to no thought about her until you are ready to feed and ride the next day.  So maybe she just wants to be loved on...Maybe just spend time with her so she doesn't have to work and get worn out.  You know like the old days when she wasn't broke to ride when you would just brush her and talk with her and love on her.  After a bit of thought Britt agreed that yeah, maybe mom was right and she would just love on her for a while.

I was sitting reading a book when Stephen went to check on her and said "you need to see this & get your camera"

This is what I found when I stepped outside.  That girl was sitting in a lawn chair in the middle of the hay pasture letting her horse eat the green grass while she just sat there picking the seeds off the tall blades of grass while talking to her, just hanging out.  Ladybug was on a lead but the rope wasn't tied to anything, they were just hanging out.  Rebuilding the relationship they have that seemed to have gotten lost in the hustle and bustle of life and stuff.  Reminding each other why they have the bond that they do.  This is truly what two best friends look like.  And no it does not matter at all that one is a thousand pound mare and the other a little buck 25 human girl.  This horse shares more secrets than any human friend will ever share with my Britt.  Because as much as my girls likes all her people friends not a single one of them can begin to compare to the friendship she has with this silly horse.

I got a few shots before Britt asked "Mom..stop taking pictures, but send me the good ones"  I told her I couldn't help it that she and ladybug were giving me the perfect picture of a girl and her horse.  I love these two and the bond they share.  Every little (and not so little) girl needs a horse to tell her secrets to.  We all have secrets we don't want to share.  Who do you share all your secrets with?

I know it has been quite some time since my last good post.  It seems we have been crazy busy the last few weeks.  Maybe it'll slow down a bit.  We'll see.

Have a great rest of the week.
Always,
tammyc

Wonderful waste of time

I tried to warn you that I had so much to tell you... So We have been spending so much time at the hospital with my dad.  I mean we were all there for several days (now we are taking turns-he's doing well and we had to go back to work).  And you know how it is everyone brings something to keep them busy so that they can ward off boredom.  Well Val had been using one of those round loom things that you can knit hats and such.  She had made herself one and while there her knitting caught the attention of one of my nieces (Katie) and she wanted to know how to make one for herself.  So Val being excited to show someone sat down with her and gave her the loom and some yarn and helped her along.  That girl made her whole hat.  She loves it and wears it everywhere already.  Before we knew it Haleigh was in on learning to make hats.  They were having such a good time knitting away while visiting with their papa and all his company.  ...

A new year

Ugh!  I have started and deleted this blog entry more times than I care to admit. :)  I have so many things floating around in my mind that I want to write about that I keep jumbling them all up on the page and they are not making sense to me so I am sure you will not have a clue what I am saying...babble, babble, babble... Anyway maybe this one will work for us all. The new year.  2012  Wow.  I am getting so old, I don't ever recall thinking this far in to the future when I was a kid except maybe when I watched movies with flying cars and hoovering skate boards and such thinking it would be neat to have a flying car.  but here we are still living a pretty normal life without all that stuff. I chuckle a little when I think of all the things I enjoy, these things certainly don't "fit" the year 2012 as the movie writers would write it. Because I don't want a flying car, I think it would be fun to ride a horse everywhere or have a covered w...

My baby girl

found this pic, not sure but I believe she was 3 April 12th (yes i know it is the 13th now)...This date in 1999 we welcomed into the world our sweet baby Britt.  She had a bit of a rough time in the first week, but wow look at her now.  She is 12.  Cant believe she is already almost a teen. (yuck)  We were so spoiled with Val that when Miss Britt came along she set our world on edge.  Thats right, she was quite a mess(not sleeping throught the night even to this day she sleep walks) But you wouldn't meet a sweeter, kinder girl.  She has the biggest heart.  Ive been thinking alot about her today with reason, it was after all her birthday.  She got to bring her horse to our pasture this week inlight of her day, so she didn't really seem to mind that I had to work and she had a softball game on her birthday.  As long as she gets to play with Ladybug alittle before the day is over.  She is now fast asleep in her bed(for now)...
