Crazy how we got here

These girls...though I haven't gotten to know Miss Josie as well as I knew her momma, I do know her well enough to know that she is one of the sweetest girls around.  She has been Valories friend forever just about.  Which isn't really a surprise to me as her momma and I were friends back in the day.  You know..."back in the day" that seems like only yesterday but really is more than 20 (maybe 30) years ago.
I got the pleasure of hanging out with them this past Friday at the local High school football game (because that's what you do for fun in this sometimes too small town).  We probably did more chit chatting than we did watching the game. but it was fun.  Some how or another we got to talking about being in band (which my girls like to pick on me about being a band nerd) and I couldn't remember if Josie's mom finished school in band or if she quit after the first year.  For some reason I could not for the life of me remember that little tidbit (it's been right about 20 years since high school give me a break I'm getting old)

Josie-wait my mom was in band?
me-Yes I just can't remember for how long
Josie-I'm pretty sure that is something she didn't want you to tell me
me-oops...yeah she was a band nerd too...

Then there were a few minutes of incredible laughter.  Just after half time the girls went to sit with Josie's parents.  I ran in to them again at the end of the game at which point Carrie says...

Carrie Jo-Why did you tell her I was in band?
me-yeah, she mentioned she never heard that and maybe mom didn't want her to know (followed by lots of laughing)
Carrie-they kicked me out for being to mean to and picking on,  you know...that one girl (who will remain nameless today because I'm not that mean).
me-oh my goodness I didn't know that.
More laughter on both parts as we visited about the past for a couple of minutes.

I find that it is very comforting to know that even after all these years when we connect and see each other we still have stuff in common and things to talk about whether it be our kiddo (that are growing too fast) or the "good ol days" we are still old friends.  It's kind of cool too because when I think back...my parents and her parents were good friends as well.

Makes me smile and be proud to be from this small town we live in.  Because everyone knowing everyone else sometimes has it's perks (sometimes not so much). And well 3rd generation friendship is definitely a perk.

Happy Sunday everyone

PS  I don't often post about my Valorie mostly because I think she is worried I post the most embarrassing stuff here, but really I don't do that.  She should know I save that sort of stuff for facebook, twitter and instagram.  So I hope she approves of this today.

♥ you Val!

Wonderful waste of time

I tried to warn you that I had so much to tell you... So We have been spending so much time at the hospital with my dad.  I mean we were all there for several days (now we are taking turns-he's doing well and we had to go back to work).  And you know how it is everyone brings something to keep them busy so that they can ward off boredom.  Well Val had been using one of those round loom things that you can knit hats and such.  She had made herself one and while there her knitting caught the attention of one of my nieces (Katie) and she wanted to know how to make one for herself.  So Val being excited to show someone sat down with her and gave her the loom and some yarn and helped her along.  That girl made her whole hat.  She loves it and wears it everywhere already.  Before we knew it Haleigh was in on learning to make hats.  They were having such a good time knitting away while visiting with their papa and all his company.  ...

A new year

Ugh!  I have started and deleted this blog entry more times than I care to admit. :)  I have so many things floating around in my mind that I want to write about that I keep jumbling them all up on the page and they are not making sense to me so I am sure you will not have a clue what I am saying...babble, babble, babble... Anyway maybe this one will work for us all. The new year.  2012  Wow.  I am getting so old, I don't ever recall thinking this far in to the future when I was a kid except maybe when I watched movies with flying cars and hoovering skate boards and such thinking it would be neat to have a flying car.  but here we are still living a pretty normal life without all that stuff. I chuckle a little when I think of all the things I enjoy, these things certainly don't "fit" the year 2012 as the movie writers would write it. Because I don't want a flying car, I think it would be fun to ride a horse everywhere or have a covered w...

My baby girl

found this pic, not sure but I believe she was 3 April 12th (yes i know it is the 13th now)...This date in 1999 we welcomed into the world our sweet baby Britt.  She had a bit of a rough time in the first week, but wow look at her now.  She is 12.  Cant believe she is already almost a teen. (yuck)  We were so spoiled with Val that when Miss Britt came along she set our world on edge.  Thats right, she was quite a mess(not sleeping throught the night even to this day she sleep walks) But you wouldn't meet a sweeter, kinder girl.  She has the biggest heart.  Ive been thinking alot about her today with reason, it was after all her birthday.  She got to bring her horse to our pasture this week inlight of her day, so she didn't really seem to mind that I had to work and she had a softball game on her birthday.  As long as she gets to play with Ladybug alittle before the day is over.  She is now fast asleep in her bed(for now)...
