Current excitement

For years now I have asked my immediate family (hubs, kids, parents, brother and his family.  Eleven of us total) if we could for just one year do a homemade Christmas.  Where everyone give and receives homemade gifts.  Not homemade by someone else and given as gifts completely homemade by each family member...this past Christmas they all agreed!  For Christmas of 2016.  I can not even express how excited I am about this.
Everyone knows I love to sew and my dear brother made a comment a few weeks ago about not being surprised at Christmas because everyone was going to get a blanket from Tammy this next year.  I laughed.  He thinks he knows me so well but the reality of it is I have several months to scour over pinterest to find just the right gifts for each and everyone of them.  And though some are crossing their fingers and praying daily that they will get a new quilt (Janae) not every person will.
Today I did start work on one of my gifts and cannot wait to see it done.  I am truly looking forward to all the fun stuff I am going to make this year and can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with.
Here's to keeping our fingers crossed that everyone holds up their end of the deal with homemade items.  Because it isn't about how much money you spend on gift it is the thought and love that goes into choosing something for each person and thinking all the fun memories you have with that person while you are working on a unique gift for them.
Thank you family for indulging me with this request I am absolutely blessed to have each and every one of you in my life.  (Now get working on your gifts it's  almost March already!).
Thanks for reading
Have a great week.

Throwback Thursday

Let me just start by saying straight out of the gate that I absolutely hate to be on the front side of any camera much less my own.  Now it isn't that I don't enjoy being in the moment, I do.  I just enjoy taking the pictures instead of being in them if that makes any sense at all.   With that said I'm glad I was on the front side of this camera this day.  I suppose all little girls dream of growing up, getting married and having babies.  I know when I was a little girl my friends and i would play house, we would more less mark of sections of the room as mine and theirs these sections would be my house or her house.  we'd have baby dolls name them fun names.  We had fun.  I don't know that I ever really thought about actually having children when I grew up.  And as I got older I remember that I didn't even want to get married when I grew up much less have any kids.  But we all grow up. And that guy comes along t...

Super sweet scrub

So the picture isn't the best, you're not looking at a wonderful back drop or perfectly packaged product for this jar of sugar scrub.  But what you are looking at is a simply wonderful homemade sugar body scrub.  I am guilty of spending more than my share of time on the ever growing in popularity website craze "Pinterest" just looking and pinning, pinning, pinning.  I asked myself some time last week "what is the point in this if I don't try some of the things I am pinning."  So yesterday I found this recipe for a sugar body scrub, it helps take off  dry dead skin and it hydrates as well. Now I know we haven't been hit with a bad winter (yet) but the air has been terribly dry and my skin is really suffering all dry and itchy.  My hands have gotten so bad that they were starting to crack and bleed around my cuticles.  So I made this scrub last night before taking my shower.  Here is what I did: Mix 1/3 cup of each in a bowl Brown sugar Regular...

Monday, my favorite day of the week?

Well yes.  I do love Mondays, as much as Saturday or Sunday?  When I worked at the credit union I lived for the federal holidays to come around, it was so nice to spend the day home alone without any care in the world...except when that holiday was also a day for the kids to be out of school or Stephen to be off work.  Don't read into that...I love my family, but I also enjoy time to do what I like to do with out having to listen to the girls fussing at each other or Stephen playing video games or watching some silly show on TV.  With this new job, well it's like I get a holiday weekend every single week.  YAY! working 4 days off 3 is by far the best shift I have ever worked  Now don't get me wrong.  I like my job, but who doesn't love weekends right?  I mean really...look at what I get to do all day...sleep in if I want, play on the computer with the house being completely quiet. (priceless by the way) I get to share my thoughts on this sill...
